About Us

Joan and Noel have been friends since the late 1980s! It all

began when Joan answered an ad in a local Los Angeles

magazine, “The Music Connection”. The ad was calling for a

background singer for a local Malibu band called Zazou. Joan

was intrigued by Noel’s ear wormy guitar hooks and its lead

singer’s strong voice. Zazou embodied Southern California pop

and signature beach culture.

In 1987, Noel decided to put down his guitar and focus on being a

conceptual artist/painter and obtain his graduate degree as a

doctor in psychology. Joan cofounded the band SUN 60 which

was signed and released 3 records on EPIC/SONY. She toured

with that band for the better of 10 years. She then moved onto a

solo career and was signed to Hollywood/Disney where she had

another release and toured the US and Canada. She and Noel

had lost touch until…..

Sometime around 2010, Noel pulled his guitars out of storage and

called Joan asking: “ Do you remember me from way back when?

I want to write some songs and have some musical ideas to show

you.” Of course Joan remembered Noel and they decided to

meet. Joan was so inspired by Noel’s sophisticated and beautiful

melodies that she committed immediately in seeing where their

collaboration could and would go! Both Noel and Joan are

attracted to a purity and honesty of the music they grew up with

and thus started a weekly cycle of songs that evolved into The

Noel Sessions. Noel’s guitar melodies again got inside Joan’s

head and never left! Noel’s melodies allowed for great creativity.

Life got in the way of keeping up with developing the music they

had created---Covid shut down! Life did however slowly get back

on track. One day Joan called Noel and said: “I met this amazing

world class rock star drummer, Toss Panos, and it would be

awesome to record these songs with him.” Noel and Toss met

and we all agreed this recording had to happen! Toss reached

out to his friend, Shane Theriot, another world class musician,

artist, and producer, and we started recording in Toss’ studio,

Tossimo, with the super talented Ozzy Doniz engineering.

We wanted to make music made by humans for humans! Ha!

While we were in Tossimo, we tracked live and overdubbed when

inspired. We wanted to feel these songs. Our hope was that the

music would revolve around some of our greatest musical

influences we were so lucky to have as our own personal sound

tracks in our lives.

And that’s how it started…….:)))
